Harley-Davidson clinches custom motorcycle awards
Oxford (03 March 2010) - Harley-Davidson UK and Ireland is today celebrating fantastic victories at the recent Ace Cafe London Motorcycle and Custom Show at Alexandra Palace. Two of the manufacturer's authorised dealerships clinched five awards in the show, which is an affiliated event of the AMD Official World Championship of Custom Bike Building.

A major part of the Harley-Davidson® lifestyle involves customisation, so its dealerships' participation in the event, which took place on 26-28 February, that was particularly apt. Harley-Davidson UK and Ireland sponsored the important Modified Harley-Davidson class at the show, which is an extension of its international backing for the Official World Championship programme. There are two types of custom bike building, one is from the ground up and the other is to modify a Harley-Davidson, and both give fantastic results.

Shaw Harley-Davidson scooped the prestigious first prize in the Modified Harley-Davidson class. Its entry, 'Strike True II', will now go forward to compete in the World Championship of Custom Bike Building in Sturgis later this year. In addition, the Sussex-based dealership walked away with second and fourth places in the Modified Harley-Davidson class for its 'Johnny Cash Get Rhythm' and 'Salt Flat' entries.

Meanwhile, Warr's Harley-Davidson won third prize in the Modified Harley-Davidson category for its entry 'Twenty Four', which is a modified version of the 2010 FLSTB Cross Bones motorcycle.

"Winning at the Ace Cafe London Motorcycle and Custom Show is a huge achievement for these two Harley-Davidson dealerships," says Stuart Farrell, Harley-Davidson Managing Director for the UK and Ireland. "There were some stunning entries across the category from individuals, independent custom shops and authorised dealers. Shaw Harley-Davidson and Warr's Harley-Davidson did exceptionally well to come away with so many awards, judged by their peers in the competition.

"The customisation possibilities for Harley-Davidson motorcycles are endless. Owners can use their machines to express their own personalities, and with thousands of Genuine Parts and Accessories® to choose from, it is unlikely that two customised bikes will ever be the same."
